Psalm 50 (ESV)

The Mighty One, God the Lord,
    speaks and summons the earth
    from the rising of the sun to its setting.
Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty,
    God shines forth.

Our God comes; he does not keep silence;
    before him is a devouring fire,
    around him a mighty tempest.
He calls to the heavens above
    and to the earth, that he may judge his people:
“Gather to me my faithful ones,
    who made a covenant with me by sacrifice!”
The heavens declare his righteousness,

    to one who orders his way rightly

  2. So good for God to let us know He doesn’t need the things we offer to Him. He is interested in relationship, affinity, growing in our understanding of Him and Him growing in us. This is true of everything we do for God. It is not that He needs us but we need Him. And there are strong words here for the wicked. They just don’t get it. Their hearts and behavior are directed toward their needs, not the needs of others. God is not happy about that and will deal with them in due time.
