Reading along with us in the first 30 chapters of Psalm? Here’s today’s reading:

Psalm 29 (ESV)

Ascribe to the Lord, O heavenly beings,
ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
2 Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness.
3 The voice of the Lord is over the waters;
the God of glory thunders,
the Lord, over many waters.
4 The voice of the Lord is powerful;
the voice of the Lord is full of majesty.
5 The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars;
the Lord breaks the cedars of Lebanon.
6 He makes Lebanon to skip like a calf,
and Sirion like a young wild ox… Continue Reading

  1. The Lord used this Psalm in a very personal and powerful way when I was looking for a human voice and He told me seven times here that I have the voice of the Lord and what a voice! ❤️

  2. The God who spoke everything into existence speaks to me. Incredible.

    “As it is said, ‘Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.'” (Hebrews 3:15)

    “Jesus said, ‘My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.'” (John 10:27)

    “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you. Be not like a horse or a mule, without understanding, which must be curbed with bit and bridle, or it will not stay near you.” (Psalm 32:8-9)

    “But he said, ‘Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it!'” (Luke 11:28)

    “Whoever is of God hears the words of God. The reason why you do not hear them is that you are not of God.” (John 8:47)

  3. I am so practical, I don’t spend enough time in worship. What a great “lesson” in worship. ASCRIBE to the Lord all the attributes and actions…that can be ascribed to Him.

  4. Ascribe….declare, give, present, proclaim, make evident…what other thoughts come to mind? The more we declare the glory and greatness of God, the more we will be reminded of who He is when we need it. The more our faith will grow. The more obedient we will become when we recognize who we are being obedient to and in front of. Worship certainly helps us transcend this life and experience a little bit if heaven, as we join the angels that praise God all the time.

    And the voice of the Lord effects the world. It has an impact, in practical ways. It is an expression of His person and His authority. We are wise to listen….
