How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever?
How long will you hide your face from me?
2 How long must I take counsel in my soul
and have sorrow in my heart all the day?
How long shall my enemy be exalted over me?

  1. I feel like David is saying, “Hey God, I’m here, haven’t heard from you in a while!” Then he remembers, “Well, I have salvation and you have blessed me in the past, so I’ll trust in your mercy….and sing a song.”

  2. I got a chuckle here as Melanie sounds like a pirate…..I am sure she intended my and not me above…

What a great Psalm for those trapped in emotional turmoil…..First God is always the reference point. We bring our stuff to Him. And although it stinks when we can’t sense Him or hear Him, we can know He is always there. Second, we have promises and assurances from God that we can throw back at Him. Look on me and answer, Lord, because that’s what you said you would do. And third, there is always truth to rest in objectively when God is not revealing Himself subjectively. “But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation. I will sing to the Lord for He has been good to me.” what healing words…..

And don’t miss the power of singing to the Lord to lift the spirit…..
