Proverbs 2 (ESV)

My son, if you receive my words
    and treasure up my commandments with you,
making your ear attentive to wisdom
    and inclining your heart to understanding;
yes, if you call out for insight
    and raise your voice for understanding,
if you seek it like silver
    and search for it as for hidden treasures,
then you will understand the fear of the Lord
    and find the knowledge of God.
For the Lord gives wisdom;
    from his mouth come knowledge and understanding;
he stores up sound wisdom for the upright;
    he is a shield to those who walk in integrity,
guarding the paths of justice
    and watching over the way of his saints.

  1. What a great promise here if we seek for God/wisdom we will find it. Think about how valuable discernment is, good judgement and good decision making skills? So to know if we want it, we can get it is very reassuring. I was struck by the various elements presented in regards to wisdom’s pursuit. Look what we have here..accepting words, storing up commands, listening, applying your heart, praying for it, look for it like it is really important, and then it will be yours. That is awesome!

    And then consider what it protects you from. All the people who would come and deceive you and lead you down a wrong path, whether they are people of the same gender or the opposite one. Realize when Proverbs talks about the evil woman, that is because David is talking to Solomon not because woman are more evil than men. If David were talking to his daughter he would be saying, watch out for the deceitful and enticing man! But wisdom protects us form them all when we pursue it in the way described in verse 1-4.

  2. 6 For the Lord gives wisdom;
    from his mouth come knowledge and understanding;
    7 he stores up sound wisdom for the upright;
    he is a shield to those who walk in integrity,
    8 guarding the paths of justice
    and watching over the way of his saints.

  3. Power is back on !
    6 For the Lord gives wisdom;
    from his mouth come knowledge and understanding;
    7 he stores up sound wisdom for the upright;
    he is a shield to those who walk in integrity,
    8 guarding the paths of justice
