Proverbs 27 (NIV)

1 Do not boast about tomorrow,
for you do not know what a day may bring.
2 Let someone else praise you, and not your own mouth;
an outsider, and not your own lips.
3 Stone is heavy and sand a burden,
but a fool’s provocation is heavier than both.
4 Anger is cruel and fury overwhelming,

  1. This Proverb certainly shows the value that can come from human relationships. Hard words that come from someone who cares about you are better than kind words that come from someone who doesn’t. Great support, counsel and encouragement can come from those we are closest to and we do inherently sharpen each other. We make each other better in the things we point out and the things we observe about each other that provide a good role model. We can very easily justify things in our own hearts, but when we expose things to others, all of a sudden it doesn’t seem so right any more.

  2. 19As water reflects the face,
    so one’s life reflects the heart.
    I loved the picture this gave me when I read it. It made me think about what people see in my life and how I am living. So much good practical advice on how we should live in Proverbs and how to help get ourselves to a life worthy of God.
    So important who’s voice we are listening to and where we seek counsel.

  3. Preparedness in Proverbs? You can’t eat money.

    “Be diligent to know the state of your flocks,
    And attend to your herds;
    For riches are not forever,
    Nor does a crown endure to all generations.
    When the hay is removed, and the tender grass shows itself,
    And the herbs of the mountains are gathered in,
    The lambs will provide your clothing,
    And the goats the price of a field;
    You shall have enough goats’ milk for your food,
    For the food of your household,
    And the nourishment of your maidservants.”
