Reading along with us in Isaiah? Here’s today’s reading:

Isaiah 35 (NIV)

Joy of the Redeemed
1 The desert and the parched land will be glad;
the wilderness will rejoice and blossom.
Like the crocus,  2 it will burst into bloom;
it will rejoice greatly and shout for joy.
The glory of Lebanon will be given to it,
the splendor of Carmel and Sharon;
they will see the glory of the Lord,
the splendor of our God.
3 Strengthen the feeble hands,
steady the knees that give way;..........Continue Reading

  1. Once again the power of God to bring life out of death. The land that was desolate with just a word from Him is full of vibrant life once more!
    The Highway of Holiness made me think about my walk with God. Traveling on that highway where He has made the way clear, safe, and a place of joy for our travel. Funny that despite this perfect path set before us how easily we stray off that road to a place difficult to travel, full of snares, and that leads to hurt and despair. God’s ways are set before us, all we need to do is listen and follow and then our travel will be easy and joyful and others will see this in our lives and want to join us on that path and we will be excited to share the way with them!

  2. The highway of holiness must be the path that is actually talked about as the path way to heaven is narrow. Sounds beautiful if we stay on course. Even then he still offers us mercy and grace to get back on the right road if we let him..

  3. What a juxtaposition this chapter is from the last. All that was desolation and left to the wild beasts is restored and transformed with new life. So many different images are given of radical change for the better. Considering the time of year, I was struck by the picture of the crocuses bursting forth as a picture of what God remaking things will look like. Yet even more powerful are the images of the blind seeing, deaf hearing and others. What great pictures of the work of God in fixing the brokenness of disobedience and sin. And God always gives us a path to walk on…and in His kingdom it will be literal and full of all the blessing and protection commensurate with what God is able to provide. It is only on us to embrace it with faith and obedience.

  4. Yay!

    The song:
    Therefore the redeemed of the Lord shall return…..
    and come with singing unto Zion
    and everlasting joy shall be upon their head.
    They shall obtain,
    gladness and joy,
    and sorrow and mourning
    shall flee away!
    Therefore the redeemed of the Lord shall return…..

    We should sing that song.
