Reading along with us in Isaiah & 2 Kings? Here’s today’s reading:

Isaiah 35 (ESV)

The wilderness and the dry land shall be glad;
    the desert shall rejoice and blossom like the crocus;
it shall blossom abundantly
    and rejoice with joy and singing.
The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it,
    the majesty of Carmel and Sharon.
They shall see the glory of the Lord,
    the majesty of our God.

Strengthen the weak hands,

  1. 4 Say to those who have an anxious heart,
    “Be strong; fear not!
    Behold, your God
    will come with vengeance,
    with the recompense of God.
    He will come and save you.”
    10 And the ransomed of the Lord shall return
    and come to Zion with singing;
    everlasting joy shall be upon their heads;
    they shall obtain gladness and joy,
    and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

  2. What a fitting balance to the last chapter! See, as evil takes place on the earth, it has its victims. These along with the faithful and believing are the ones God protects and for whom He brings vengeance on the world. They do not need to be afraid because God is their protector. Those who follow God will have their compensation both in this life and the next. The kingdom of God is here now and will continue into eternity and it is a kingdom of power and light and truth and kindness and life and blessing!
